Quite interested in this. Have made some changes in my equipment and am curious as to get tuned in again. Apparently some methods used previously are not working for me. Been shooting/hunting since 1988, no stranger to archery. Original setup: 2009 Martin Bengal set at 62#, 28" Easton ACC 3-60/340, 100 grain head, through a NAP Quik tune 360 rest. Was shooting bullet holes, fp and bh grouping together. Current setup: same bow now set at 55#, 28" Easton FMJ 400 with 100 grain head, shooting through a QAD drop away rest. Reasons for the change.....GETTING OLD, sore shoulders and need to shoot lighter. PROBLEM: consistant left tear no matter what I do with conventional tuning methods. Have moved rest right and left=no difference. Have plenty of fletch clearance. Fp and bh group well but bh are right of fp by 4". Bow is perfect, axle to axle, brace height and tiller.

Have been reading about yoke tuning and am considering this but have never done it before. Big question is, does arrow spine matter that much anymore seeing that once one is true center shot the bow can be adjust at the yoke for a fine tune?

Arrow Spine does matter but I would yoke tune first. I changed my whole way of tuning I wouldn't do a tune now with out yoke tuning. Here is a link that shows it well

It is that link very Youtube vid I found a few days ago that got me into thinking a lot different about tuning a bow these days. That is why I was wondering about spine and how I dont see it coming into play maybe as much in years past. Hutch you made the strings I currently have on my Bengal, several years....NO STRETCH, great stuff. Going to get this bow setup either shooting the ACCs or the FMJs perfectly, once I get that done I will order a back up set of strings for the Bengal.

Sounds like a plan ACCs are a good way to go. But whatever you get once that bow is set up correctly it will be a good shooter.

UPDATE: Oh boy, been trying to work out a left tear. Quick recap, got bow center shot, did walk back tuning, even shot broadheads and field points, groups about 4" apart. Started yoke tuning, twists in and out right and left side with little to no effect. Took off drop away rest thinking release line was pulling on cable, installed NAP Quiktune 360 rest, get center shot, first arrow about a 1.5" RIGHT tear. now I decide to take off the rubber tubing that aligns the peep. Even bigger right tear. Returned bow to original specs, meaning took all excessive twists out of yoke and set axle to axle in spec. Going to work from there. Learning plenty.

Have you checked to see if your arrows are too weak of a spine or on second thought too stiff will cause it to not flex and thus left or right tear. One last thing I can think of form makes a big difference

Been shooting almost 30 years, I am discounting form since I have always been a pretty accurate shooter. I am also shooting both a 340 and 400 spine arrow to look for any difference there. Thing that threw me was going from a left tear to a right tear. Going crazy, but I will get it. Biggest change with this bow is going from 62# to 55#. Still within the bow's specs.

Something to think about, how tight is the the arrow nock to the center serving? you should be able to nock an arrow let it hang down and slap the string the arrow should fall off

After starting over, with the Quik Tune 360 rest, I pulled the rubber tubing off the peep, removed the silencers from the string and set the bow to factory specs. Got it center shot. Still a right tear. Began twisting the right yoke. Slowly the tear started getting smaller. With 5 twists in the right yoke I have bullet holes, with both a FMJ 400 and ACC 340 arrows. Now my next question, can I post a pic here? Just a little concerned about how the yoke looks with all those twists in the right side. AND I am ready to order those back up strings for my Martin Bengal.
